Welcome back to Rational Table Tennis Analysis. In this video we’ll focus on how to do the backhand serve. Nowadays various variations of the forehand pendulum serve dominate at the higher levels. However, there are advantages to the backhand serve. It’s often easier to control the height, allowing you to serve very low to the net. It’s a quicker motion, which can confuse some opponents. Because it’s less often used, opponents aren’t as used to it. Another great advantage is that you can see your opponent more easily as you are serving, some players can change their serve in mid-motion based on what their opponent is doing during the serve.
